5 “Christmas [online] Visibility” Strategies for a Small Business That Work Hard (So You Don’t Have To!)
Jingle bells ahoy, let’s do this!
The festive season is creeping up fast, and here at Yellow Tuxedo, we thought we’d prep a nice little bundle of early presents, all wrapped up and ready for you. This is something we’ve been working on with 🎪The Digital Circus Circus Performers, so figured we’d share with you as well..
Because in online visibility – or as we like to call it, “Christmas Visibility” – a little bit of festive magic and cheer can go a very, very long way. Especially when you blend it with fun, adventure, genuine human connection, and smart online strategy.
We certainly don’t want your amazing brand to get lost in the holiday rush. So, it’s time to get prepping like that organised weirdo you know who has always finished wrapping everything by the end of October! (Who even are those people?! 😉)
Right… here goes with 5 Christmas Visibility Tips for Small Businesses:
1. The “Joyful Gifting” Social Post
- The Tip: Instead of just promoting your own offers, create a social media post, blog, video or even a newsletter [or all of these] where you genuinely recommend 3-5 other complementary small businesses’ products or services that would make brilliant Christmas gifts.
- The Why: This is pure “ripple effect” generosity and a fantastic way to boost your small business online visibility. You’re not selling, you’re giving. It builds immense goodwill, gets you noticed by those businesses (and their audiences!), and positions you as a helpful, community-minded expert. It’s truly visibility through generosity!
2. The “Festive Refresh” Google Business Profile Audit
- The Tip: Spend just 15 minutes updating your Google Business Profile (GBP) – it’s often an overlooked gem for holiday marketing tips. Add some festive photos, highlight any special Christmas products or offers, update your holiday hours, and post a quick Christmas message.
- The Why: With countless people searching for local businesses during the holidays, a fresh, festive, and up-to-date GBP makes you instantly stand out in local search results. It’s a tiny technical tweak that can bring in real-world customers without any extra faff.
3. The “New Year Hook” Content Idea
- The Tip: Brainstorm and schedule one piece of strategic content (a social post, a short video, or a newsletter idea) that’s specifically designed to launch in the first week of January.
- The Why: While everyone else is winding down or nursing a New Year hangover, you’re setting yourself up for a fabulous, proactive start to the new year. This gives you valuable peace of mind during the holidays and ensures your seasonal content strategy helps you hit the ground running when everyone’s ready for fresh inspiration. We’re huge on this – there’s nothing wrong with taking time off over Christmas, but why not schedule in some ‘next step’ posts or fun content to keep your online ecosystem moving?
4. Macro Content to Repurpose EVERY Year
- The Tip: Create one piece of optimised macro content (a comprehensive blog post, a valuable video, or an insightful audio piece [ just like this blog]) that gives something genuinely useful to your target audience. Think ‘Christmas Planner for X’ or ‘5 Ways to Prepare Your Business for the New Year’.
- The Why: This is incredibly efficient for small business online visibility. Not only can this piece of content be repurposed by you in countless ways throughout the year, but it will also trend up in search engine results at the same time every year. This makes it work incredibly hard for you, becoming a reliable asset in your long-term content strategy.

5. The “Holiday Prep” Highlight Reel
- The Tip: Create a simple Instagram Story series (and save it as a Highlight) or a similar series on any other relevant social platform. Share how you’re personally prepping your business for the holidays (e.g., scheduling content, taking a well-deserved break, batching emails, or even a fun, festive office tidy-up).
- The Why: This is incredibly relatable and showcases the authentic, human side of running a business during a busy time. It offers practical insights while highlighting your authenticity, proving you’re just like them, navigating the same festive challenges. This builds genuine connection and trust – vital for small business online visibility.
6. Stay visible when others aren’t! [yes, we know…]
- The Tip: Schedule some social post and or macro content to go out over the festive break when you’re possibly switching off! We’re not fans of scheduling, but this one makes sense..
- The Why: In a time when so many small businesses are understandingly easing up for a break and in amongst the naysayers telling us all to take a break, what we see if lots of people still looking at social media.. So, schedule a few bits of content whilst you’r eon your break to keep your small business visible online and catch up with the comments when you’re back..
As always… Any questions on any of this, just ask!
And remember, that we get to do this… How blimmin’ exciting!
