In the last week or so we have sent several screen recordings on our phones to clients to demonstrate quick walk arounds of apps etc. And each time our client has asked "but how did you do that?!" With this in mind we thought we would do a quick demonstration to show you exactly how to to screen record with sound on your iPhone. Its such a quick and easy function but like lots of us find we don't use half of the iPhone features to our advantage sometimes!

What can you use iPhone screen recordings for?

We all know what it is like. We get asked a question and by the time you've gone back and forth a few times you start thinking it would have been quicker just to go and do it yourself! The ability to screen record is a really quick and easy way for you to do a realtime demonstration with anything you are talking about on your phone or browser.

But thats not all its good for...Have you ever wanted to capture something in the moment? Perhaps a snippet of a live video? Or maybe you're listening to the radio through your phone and you want to grab a little bit of the audio? The screen record function allows you to quickly save realtime content and will let you save it directly to your files.

We hope you find this little video helpful. We'd also love to know what hidden features and apps you have on your phone that makes your life easier every single day. Do feel free to share them with us in the comments.

Have a great day

CONNECTING GOOGLE ANALYTICS TO YOUR WEBSITE …

Guided by a few of our Yellow Tuxedo clients this week who were struggling to connect Google Analytics to their websites we thought that it would be a great idea to do a series of short videos to illustrate how simple it is to do this. This week we’re starting with Squarespace. You don’t need to be an expert in coding or a technical wiz kid. Today we show you two simple methods you can use depending on your preference.

USE THE GOOGLE ANALYTICS TRACKING CODE

The simplest and most straightforward way to link your Google analytics account to your Squarespace site is by using the GA tracking code and pasting it onto the back end of your web browser.

To do this follow these simple steps…

1. Log in to your Google analytics account.

2. Hit “Admin” on the left hand panel.

3. In the 2nd column labelled “property” hit the “tracking info” tab and then “tracking code”

4. Copy and paste the tracking ID. This will be the code that starts with UA.

5. Once you have copied this code head over to your Squarespace dashboard and click on settings>Advanced.

6. Click on “external API keys” and copy your tracking ID.

7. Hit save and you are good to go!

USE THE GLOBAL SITE TAG TO CONNECT GOOGLE ANALYTICS

Another simple option to connect your site is by using the Global site tag on Google Analytics. This can be found just under the Tracking ID.

1. Highlight and copy all of the code.

2. In Squarespace rather than clicking on External API keys click on “Code Injection”

3. Paste the web code into the header section and hit save.

This will then track all of the pages on your website.

Regardless of which method you choose to use just be sure that you only pick ONE and not both so that you don’t duplicate data on your site!

And thats it, you are good to go with Google Analytics. Be sure to allow a day or so for it to start tracking data!

Watch our video belowto see how this looks in realtime, and if you haven’t yet done so why don’t you subscribe to our Yellow Tuxedo YouTube channel to stay up to date with all of our latest video training.

How to autotweet from Instagram to Twitter using IFTTT...

Following our successful time saving hack using IFTTT [ If this then that] to share from Instagram to Pinterest we thought that we would show you another one today that shows you how to set up a rule to autoshare from Instagram to Twitter.

Now yes, we know you can switch the share button over on Instagram when you are posting manually but for lots of us busy people we use 3rd party apps like Tailwind to schedule our posts that don't allow this as a function. Its pretty frustrating.

Also, when you share directly from Instagram to Twitter you only really share the link to your instagam post. By using the IFTTT app it will allow you to share your images natively to twitter which in turn will MASSIVELY help with your engagement.

Todays video shows you the exact steps to take to use IFTTT to autotweet from Instagram to Twitter. Its short and sweet this week but will save you bucket loads of time once youve set it up!

So without further ado here is the link to our tutorial. We do hope you find it useful.

And of course do be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel to stay up to date with all of our weekly tips and advice on making sure that your business stands out from the crowd with an amazing online presence.

Have a tip top day...

USING ZOOM FOR PODCASTING..

As you’ll pretty much have gathered by now if you’ve been following us for a while, here at Yellow Tuxedo we are HUGE advocates of creating macro content that will massively help you with your marketing efforts. Podcasting is a growing trend and especially during this lockdown period its been so encouraging to see more and more small businesses utilising audio as a bonafide way of marketing their business and connecting with a wider audience.

In todays video, brought to you by Alan, we want to show you a simple way of getting started by using Zoom for podcasting. Its a simple approach that means that even if you don’t have all of the fancy recording equipment at this stage you can certainly start to make waves by getting your voice out there.

The Digital Circus | Yellow Tuxedo | digital visibility

WHY USE ZOOM TO RECORD YOUR PODCAST?

First and foremost, Zoom is a free piece of software that you can use to record for meetings of under 3 people. This means its perfect for a 1:1 interview if you are looking to bring in guests for your podcast episode.

Zoom is also a go to piece of software when it comes to its above average audio quality. It gives you the ability to play with your audio settings and customise it to your exact specifications.

REPURPOSING YOUR CONTENT FOR VIDEO

We have written this before in our previous blog on “how to record a video and a podcast at the same time”

but the benefit of recording your podcast in this way is that you can film your video content at exactly the same time, therefore creating a video perfect for YouTube as well as an audio file to upload onto your podcasting platform. Its great practice to be able to repurpose your content to sit on different platforms.

OUR FAVOURITE PRODUCTIVITY APPS TO USE ON YOUR SMARTPHONE DURING LOCKDOWN…

The current Covid-19 lockdown has thrown a major spanner in the works for literally thousands of small business owners who are now forced to try and work from home. Today we’re going to run through 7 productivity apps on your smartphone that will really help you stay on track for business as usual during these challenging times.

For the most part these are all things that you would probably already have on your phone however might not be using to their full potential.

For those of you who have followed us for a while you’ll know that we are MAJOR Apple fans so we do reference the Iphone features within todays video however for the most part these can be applied to Android too.

1] SHARED CALENDARS

Although we absolutely LOVE timeblocking in its most formal sense we are also realists right now and sometimes timeblocking for every single second of the day is just not practical when you have small people and other distractions within your homeworking space. If thats for you then we totally recommend checking out Monday.com for their guide on how to timeblock efficiently.

However if you’re like us a more practical approach is to use shared calendars to colour code those key things in your diary that are static and can’t be changed so that you can easily see where your biggest gaps are in your day and where you can be more active. Google Calendar also integrates really well with Apple Calendars so all of our Appointments get booked in seamlessly across our devices.

2] NOTES

Use the notes feature on your phone. Again, if you’re using Apple this is great for seamlessly getting your information across all of your devices. We create notes for everything from formulating captions for social media and creating hashtag bundles to be used on Instagram to brain storming content ideas. We also create checklists that both of us can contribute to on a daily basis.

3] VOICE NOTES

We love a good voice note and think that they are majorly unappreciated when it comes to your business and productivity. If you’re busy in the kitchen or have your hands full with the kids, sometimes creating a voice memo is a much quicker way of getting your thoughts down.

We especially love using voice notes for when it comes to creating blog content. When faced with an empty page in front of you it can sometimes be quite daunting. Sometimes is much easier to speak into our phones when the mood takes us and transcribe later.

4] SHARED PHOTO STREAMS

Once again Apple makes life so simple when it comes to creating shared photo albums on our phones. A great job to start whilst on lockdown is to start building a catalogue of images on your phone to use for varying purposes for your business. We have Yellow Tuxedo inspiration albums, examples of our work, screenshots of comments, us out and about at events, working with clients etc. It just makes life so much easier than scrolling through years and years of photographs that we havent put into any kind of order!

5] THE CANVA APP

Like lots of people we absolutely love Canva and its an essential part of the content creation process for our business. We literally use it every single day. We actually pay for the pro version of Canva because we love using it across our team and for the ability to lock in our brand sheet as well as saving our templates. Although I actually prefer to create our imagery using the desktop version for ease, the fact that it works seamlessly with the Canva app means that once I have finished on my computer I can literally pick my phone up and continue working on a project as well as being able to save directly to my phones camera roll with little effort at all.

6] TAILWIND APP

Tailwind has literally been a game changer for our business when it comes to productivity. We’ve played with lots of other scheduling software however we have found Tailwind to be ridiculously simple to use. Each week we sit and schedule the week ahead using both the inbuilt hashtag generator to help. We absolutely love the automated posting schedule it creates for us based on our users activity.

Just like Canva I love how I can start on my desktop and can literally pick up my phone and continue with the task in hand.

7] THE GOOGLE MY BUSINESS APP

Although not strictly speaking a productivity app it really is a great feature for our phones that helps us to stay more visible on Google, especially when we are a business that specialises in online presence! We all have the likes of Facebook and Instagram on our phones so why would you not use Google My Business in the same way? You can update your images, your videos, you can share posts and offers etc right from your smartphone without even needing to pick up your laptop. And the benefit of this? This is actual optimised content you are creating which will massively help your local SEO.

We do hope you’ve found this useful, we would absolutely love to know what your favourite app on your phone right now is. What is the one app you click on every day without fail?! Let us know in the comments….

As always if you have any questions do be sure to chat to a member of our team, we’re always happy to talk things through with you.

WHAT THE FLYWHEEL MARKETING MODEL MEANS FOR YOUR BUSINESS …

Over on our social media channels this week we have been disussing the flywheel marketing model and what that means to businesses. Its a model that completely steers away from the traditional funnel shaped model by putting the customer at the centre of the focus.

THE TRADITIONAL SALES FUNNEL

Before we go on to unpick exactly how the flywheel works its probably worthwhile taking a look at the sales funnel approach.

The traditional funnel is very much a linear approach that aims to attract prospects into the funnel, to then convert a lead with the end result being the customer at the bottom. Once this funnel is complete the customer drops out of the funnel and the process starts again to attract new prospects.

The challenge with the sales funnel model is that each time a funnel ends you need to use more energy to begin again. This can be labour intensive.

However its important to note that the funnel IS a critical tool in measuring new business and how you acquire that business.

The Digital Circus | Yellow Tuxedo | digital visibility

THE FLYWHEEL MODEL

The flywheel model completely reimagines the funnel by removing the customer from the bottom of the cycle and placing them at the very centre. Surrounding the customer is a spinning wheel based on three elements..  to ATTRACT your prospects, to ENGAGE your clients and to DELIGHT your promoters. These three elements together make the wheel spin.

By removing as many friction points along the way as possible the wheel is able to spin faster, build momentum and, more importantly, able to store energy.

The flywheel is the overarching methodology for how your customers experience your company. If you get it right your customers become your biggest marketing tool.

In todays video we unpick the flywheel model further and explain in real terms what you can be doing practically to attract, engage and delight your own audience.

Do be sure to leave us a little thumbs up if it resonates with you and do feel free to comment on whether you prefer the funnel or flywheel approach.  If you haven’t yet done so why don’t you subscribe to our Yellow Tuxedo YouTube channel to stay up to date with all of our latest video training.
